As a direct interpretation of traditional Mediterranean architecture, Atika displays a series of functional rooms around an opened space, a patio that functions as a climate regulator. Atika shows different case situations depending on the orientation, the type and the use of space, as well as optimal daylighting and indoor climate in each case. This makes Atika a flexible organism that can open and close, breathe, capture solar energy and convert it according to seasonal changes. The roof and its slopes are north-south oriented. Each space inside the house has its own roof geometry.
Atika exposes its roof area to catch the energy of the sun and the ventilation of fresh air. The choice of the materials, the strategically placed windows facing in all directions according to room function and the solar panels facing the sun at different angles allow for high energy efficiency and a pleasant indoor climate all year round.
The layout of Atika houses a typical single-family space. It is divided into three parts. Two aisles to the west and east configure the main living functions, separated through the entrance area and the open terrace in between. The west aisle, with its sliding windows onto the patio facing the morning sun, houses from south to north the sleeping room, the wardrobe unit with a working space and the bathroom.

The big window area on the steep roof above the bedroom facing north provides magnificent views of the night sky. You can fall asleep in your bed gazing at the stars.
From the working place beside the wardrobe, the whole house can be seen.
Although placed on the northern side, the bathroom catches the warm light of direct sun due to its slight roof slope to the south.
On the south facade, a pleasant area to relax, similar to a winter garden, offers a view of the yacht harbour below. The ceramic floor tiles store the heat of the gentle winter sun and irradiate it again during the night.
The east aisle, with its sliding windows onto the patio catching the afternoon light, is an open space for living, dining and cooking.

 | | The layout around the patio makes it possible to enjoy the house in many different and personal ways. The different spaces can be fully opened to the patio during the warm months, creating a unified living experience. But the privacy of each space is also ensured by closers at night or during colder periods.
The high north-oriented roof windows over the dining area help to ventilate the house and let north daylight in. The kitchen, as is now commonplace in contemporary housing, plays an important role in the atmosphere of the house. It is open and functionally optimised. Windows in the north facade over the kitchen worktop provide good daylight for working and a view of the entrance.
The internal walls and ceilings are white-painted plasterboard partitions ensuring the best possible light reflection and brightness of the roof windows above.
