The luminance maps below show the daylight conditions in the living room under intermediate sky conditions. One situation was taken when the light was diffused and the other was taken at a time when direct solar radiations were present in the room. The situation under diffused light shows interesting luminance ratios between the room surfaces and the view out. The situation with direct solar radiations presents acceptable ratios between the room surfaces and the view out; however the high luminance values from the sun patches and windows are potential sources of glare. To solve this, the shading system (external shutters or internal roller blinds) can be used to control the light coming from these openings while keeping the functional light from the windows with a different orientation.
